A safe way to know which jewelry to wear is to see what kinds of adornments are on the dress itself.  If the dress is adorned with pearls, perhaps some pearl jewelry can complement the look; Swarovski crystals on the dress merit some sparkling crystal jewelry or diamonds.

While clear, colorless stones are popular with brides, there’s no reason why other gems should be left behind.  You could certainly use colored gemstones, especially if they tie in to the colors of your wedding.
